We all want to know, but websites like Zillow, Trulia, & Realtor are only able to give you the list price. Get educated on your neighborhood so you know exactly what is happening in this ever changing market.
Being a nosey neighbor has less to do with being in peoples business and more to do with being educated about the value of your home. Being a nosey neighbor and knowing what the surrounding homes SELL for vs what they are listed for allows you to make an informed decision on whether to sell your house or not.

Most of the time when people are looking at your neighbors home that is for sale they are not concentrating on people that might be looking at them, the agents know they are being watched but buyers aren't focused on you. That said, if you are looking out the window, best if it's from the kitchen or dining room so you look busy.
REALTORS aren't fooled by someone checking the mail, we know you are scoping out the potential new neighbors and nobody checks the mail more than neighbors of a house across the street from a house for sale. Instead of checking the mail go outside with your kid, or or take a slow walk, it's less obvious.
Find out what the house sold for, be in the know when it comes to either selling your house or protesting your taxes. It is important, and can either save you or make you thousands. Don't just trust the REALTOR, have an educated opinion when you speak to a professional.
